Currently, the SR 247 Connector is a four-lane roadway with a raised median going from the western limits of the project, near Margie Drive to South Houston Road. Between South Houston Road and Hawkinsville Road (US 129), the existing roadway has four through lanes and a center turn lane.

The proposed project would consist of replacing the structurally deficient bridge located on CR 246/Brownwood Road over Big Indian Creek in Morgan County. The proposed 130-foot long bridge would have two 11-foot travel lanes (one in each direction) with 4-foot shoulders on each side.

The Phase I Archaeological Survey was conducted on a 3000 foot corridor that will be affected by the proposed bridge replacement on SR 322 over Walnut Creek. Up to 100 feet of additional ROW is needed in the corridor on SR 322.

The proposed project was field surveyed for historic properties, in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto. The survey boundary and methodology were established using the GDOT/FHWA Cultural Resource Survey Guidelines.
