In November of 2000, Southeastern Archeological Services conducted an archeological survey of two tracts that together total 41.3 ha (102 ac) for the Board of Commissioners of McDuffie County, Georgia, through the engineering firm of Precision Planning, Inc.

An intensive archeological survey was conducted of a proposed 3.9 km long bypass around the south side of the town of Dawsonville. About one third of the project involves widening an existing two land road and the remainder involves construction of a two land road on wooded new location.
