Report Abstracts

The proposed work consists of resurfacing, patching, milling, striping, raised pavement markers, and curb cuts along a 1.27 mile section of State Route (SR) 158 in Coffee County from SR 206 to SR 31 (Figure 1).

During the period of October 2 through 4, 2013, R.S. Webb & Associates (RSWA) conducted a Phase I Cultural Resources Survey of additional acreage for the proposed Thomasville Regional Airport improvements project in Thomas County, Georgia (Figure 1).

Edwards-Pitman Environmental, Inc. (EPEI) conducted a cultural resources survey for Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) proposed safety improvements to the intersection of United States (US) 19/State Route (SR) 9 and SR 60 in Lumpkin County, Georgia (P.I. No. 0009950; HP No. 131227-005).

The proposed work consists of resurfacing, patching, milling, striping, raised pavement markers, and curb cuts along a 14.30 mile section of State Route (SR) 11 in Jasper County from SR 16/SR 83 to the Newton County line (Figure 1).

A Phase I archaeological survey was performed on July 18, 2015 of the proposed lease area and access/utility easement (hereafter also called survey area) of the Pork Plate telecommunication facility located in Columbus, Georgia (32º 32’ 25.37” N, 84º 57’ 25.23” W).

The proposed project consists of repairs to the Heart of Georgia Railroad corridor between Preston Georgia and Cordele Georgia, a distance of approximately 50 miles (80.4 kilometers) (see attached project location map). The project corridor is located in Webster, Sumter, and Crisp counties.

Environmental Corporation of America (ECA) has completed an Archaeological Assessment for the federal undertaking at the subject site.

A Phase I archaeological survey was performed on July 18, 2015 of the proposed lease area, access/utility easement (hereafter also called survey area) of the Tomochichi telecommunication facility located in Griffin, Georgia (33º 15’ 20.47” N, 84º 09’ 48.00” W).

This report is a summary of the archaeological investigations performed on Mary Hammock (official state archaeological site number 9MC351), a back-barrier island (also known as marsh island or hammock) in McIntosh County, GA.
