Report Abstracts

This report is a Soil Survey done by the United States Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service in cooperation with the University of Georgia, College of Agriculture Agricultural Experiment Stations in Appling and Jeff Davis Counties, Georgia.

A heritage resources survey has been completed for approximately 916 acres for the East Nottely Project. Approximately 370 acres were surveyed for the current project, 326 acres have been previously surveyed, and 220 acres will be surveyed after the timber sale.

On November 2, 1976, the Columbus Museum of Arts and Crafts, Inc. was retained by Steele Enterprises, Inc. to conduct a cultural resource walkover of the proposed site of Crosscreek Apartments, Columbus, Georgia.

Fulton County Department of Public Works has submitted to the Department of Natural Resources a construction plan for the Chattahoochee River Long Island interceptor sewer project.

As in Phase I of the above referenced projects, this letter serves as compliance for Section 106 in regards to potential archaeological sites.

A workshop is defined as an area where broken or unfinished vessels litter the surface, but where there is no evidence of above-ground quarry activities. Some workshops may prove to be quarry sites if further investigations indicate subsurface quarry activities. 11 [Dickens, undated].

This report is a request for Determination of Eligibility for the 9DA104 site in DeKalb County, Georgia. This site is, specifically, between I-285, West Side Place, and Henrico Road.

This report is a proposal for Soapstone Ridge to be nominated in the National Register of Historic Places Inventory. Numerous archaeological surveys have been completed in this area at the time of publication of this report in 1978.
