Archeological Assessment of the Jackson County Resurfacing Project.

Project EDS-565(2) formerly EDS-440 Effingham County begins at a point north of the intersection of Old Middle Ground Rd. and SR21 at the end of the existing five-lane section, north of Rincon.

Termini, description of new structure, ROW, location of realignment or detour, map with north and flow arrows. Stream Name: Little Toccoa Creek, and the road name is CR 156.

The proposed project has been surveyed for historic resources in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto.

Little Ogeechee River Site- From a point 1055 feet S.W. of the existing bridge, extending along the existing alignment distance of approximately 2285 feet, to a point N.E. of the existing bridge. Hardin Canal and Salt Creek Site: From a point approximately 1676 feet S.W.

The existing bridge structure is 24 ft. wide by 332 ft. long consisting of concrete columns, steel beams, and concrete deck. The existing structure will be widened to 44 ft.

30 feet X 20.8 feet bridge consists of 10.5” X 112” steel “I” beams with concrete deck and 2 vertical concrete abutments. Existing R/W 60’ total. Project begins 600’ south of existing bridge and extends northeast 850’ to Sta. 33+50. Proposed structure 58’ Triple 9’X8’ Conc. Bridge CLVT.

Concrete abutments and deck 311 square feet opening. Two 1.24’ X .3’ Channel Beams. Six 1.25’ X .5’ Steel I-beams. Existing R/W 40’ total beams. Centerline will be shifted approximately 75’ north of the present stream crossing. Proposed structure- 44’ Triple 10’ X 9’ concrete bridge clvt.

Type and size of existing structure and ROW: 24x98.98 concrete bridge existing R/W 100 feet. Widen the existing 24 feet bridge to 44 feet prospect begins 500 feet west of bridge, ends 5000 east of bridge. No Regd R/W.

Archeological Assessment of a Jackson County Resurfacing Project. This project consists of 1.65 miles of resurfacing on SR 11 beginning at the Pendergrass Bypass and ending at the Hall County Line. Raised Pavement markers and patching will be handled by the contractor.
