Originally, the proposed project consisted of the widening and reconstruction of SR 124. The project would begin at Centerville-Rosebud Road and ends at Henry Clower Boulevard in the city of Snellville. Existing right-of-way varies from 18.3 m to 24.4 m (60 ft to 80 ft).

During the month of February, 1998 New South Associates conducted a 1,300 acre survey of the Daves Creek development tract in Forsyth County, Georgia. A total of 30 sites, 25 isolated finds, and 1 prerecorded architectural complex were located within the proposed project area.
