Report Abstracts

This preliminary report summarizes the results of an archaeological survey of the Robert W. Scherer plant site and water pipeline. The plant site consists of approximately 12,000 acres located slightly over three miles east of Forsyth in Monroe County, Georgia.

Numerous surveys have been performed within the Eelbeck district in the past thirty years (Gresham 1982, Vol. 2, Part 1; Poplin and Goodwin 1988a; Hight 1977; Remote Sensing Analysts 1979). No standing structures or undisturbed prehistoric sites remain within the area.

The proposed project consists of the widening of a portion of SR 13/Buford Highway. The project would begin at the intersection of Old Peachtree Road and continue to end approximately .7 km (.43 mi) northeast of the intersection of Sugarloaf Parkway.

The combined projects would widen Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Gwinnett and Hall Counties.

This project proposes the widening of 1-85 from the junction of S.R. 120 north to the junction of 1-985. The project will occur within existing right-of-way, adding one 12 foot lane to both directions of the existing facility. The total project length is 6 miles.

This project is the widening of Ga. 20 from the intersection of Ga. 124 to 1-85. The length of the project is 5.5 miles with a width of 165 feet. Most of the project parallels the existing roadway with some new location being acquired to realign Ga. 20 on several curves.

The proposed project consists of the replacement of the bridge on CR 235/Alcovy over the Alcovy River northeast of the city of Lawrenceville. The project would begin approximately 110 m (360.9 ft) west of the Alcovy River and would end approximately 100 m (328.1 ft) east of the Alcovy River.

Project M-9285(2) consists of the proposed widening and reconstruction of S.R. 13/U.S. 23 within the city limits of Norcross from Jimmy Carter Boulevard (S.R. 140) northeasterly to Langford Drive, a distance of 1.9 miles.
