Historical Investigations of the Richard B. Russell Multiple Resource Area (MRA) serves as an overview of the MRA, which lies in the upper Savannah River Valley between the Clarks Hill Lake and the Hartwell Lake between eastern Georgia and western South Carolina.

Oglethorpe Power Corporation contracted with Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. to conduct an intensive cultural resources survey of a proposed 8.6 km (5.3 mi) transmission line in northern Worth County. The proposed line almost entirely parallels state and county roads.
