Report Abstracts

A reconnaissance level archeological survey of a 673 acre tract owned by the Vulcan Materials Company was conducted by Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. during the period of January 30-31, 1992.

Archaeology was conducted at the Ft. King George Historic Site in Darien, McIntosh County, Georgia, during the summer of 1984 as part of an organized effort to develop a comprehensive plan to manage the cultural resources of this sensitive area.

A program of testing and evaluation for three sites on a creek called Sandy Run in the Cherry Point area of the Naval Submarine Support Base at Kings Bay was conducted by the Jeffrey L. Brown Institute of Archaeology, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Cultural Property GP-SN-12 was discovered during the Resource Inventory II study of the proposed Vogtle -Effingham - Thalmann 500 KV Electric Transmission Line (Garrow 1984).

Archaeological testing and data recovery planning studies were conducted within the Designated Work Areas (DWAS) at three cultural properties, GP-SN-131 GP-SN-15, and GP-SN-22, in Screven County, Georgia.

The report which follows documents the results of Resource Inventory I and II investigations of the proposed Wallace Darn Plant Scherer Section (WD-PS) of the Vogtle-Scherer Transmission Line (V-STL).
