Prehistoric burial recovery and site assessment were conducted at 9Sw70 (Stewart County, Georgia) during August 1994, by Brockington and Associates, Inc. Poorly preserved remains of an adult female Native American were excavated from an eroding bank of Lake Walter F.

The hole excavated was roughly octagon-shaped, with rounded corners and it measured 8 X 8 feet from side to side. The sculptor originally thought the hole needed to be 3 feet deep, but the builders convinced him such a deep excavation was unnecessary.

Pieces of ceramics were discovered in the roadway and on the edges of Aderhold Rd. proper. No material was found by the second group of students, but about 50 ceramic pieces were collected from the roadway on top of the ridge and within 100 ft in either direction from the intersection.
