Report Abstracts

This report covers the emergency maintenance road repair of SR 17/75 in White County. This is in reference to our field visit on August 2, 2001 concerning emergency work to repair a slide on SR 17/75 in White County. This project plans to fix the potential landslide on Highway 17/75.

During a reconnaissance walkover on November 18, 1999 of an approximately 17.1-acre wooded tract of undeveloped private land in the Soapstone Ridge Historic District, Mr. David Cullison of the DeKalb County Historic Preservation Commission observed fairly deep dark loamy soils.

This report is a botanical assessment and impact statement of the Georgia Bicentennial Forest located in Fulton County, Georgia.

A cultural resource survey was conducted on a 784-acre tract of steep mountain land in the Frogtown Creek drainage of northern Lumpkin County. This is in Compartment 540, Chestatee Ranger District, Chattahoochee National Forest.

The archeological survey of the proposed driveway and parking area was conducted on December 15,2014 by Registered Professional Archeologist Tom Gresham, president of Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc., and Registered Landscape Architect Debbie Bell, of Newton County.

The Kettle Creek Battlefield Association, Inc. (KCBA) is a non-profit organization founded in 2011 and dedicated to the preservation and better understanding of the important Revolutionary War battle that took place in today’s southwestern Wilkes County on February 14, 1779 (Figure 1).

The University of Georgia owns a large tract of mostly undeveloped land off of South Milledge Avenue, south of the Athens bypass and east of the Middle Oconee River.

This archaic stone workshop is on a long ridge paralleling the Etowah River and a state highway cuts through the site. The site is eroding and shells (periwinkle) and flint chips are found.
