An archaeological literature search of the proposed Coastal Georgia Greenway Route was conducted by New South Associates. The corridor traverses 176.13 miles, but the current study looked at only 136.31 miles.

New South Associates conducted a cultural resources survey of the project area for preplacement of the Mason Creek Road Bridge over Mobley Creek. The study was conducted during the week of February 26, 2001 and included an archaeological as well as an historic architectural study.

This is a 1000-acre tract on Briar Creek in McDuffie County, just west ofCamp Gordon Military Reservation. The land has two ponds ---a third has been drained--- which were constructed about 1913 using a mule and scoop. The dikes for the two ponds are wide enough to drive a pick-up truck on.

I was pleased to learn that the Grady County report had passed SHPO review with minimal comments. Garrow & Associates, Inc. will provide curation for the project materials from that project until such time as a permanent repository for DNR archaeological project materials can be determined.
