An archaeological reconnaissance survey was conducted on October 7, 1976, for the City of Rome , Georgia, along the proposed pipeline for a sewer project which is to serve the southeastern part of the city.

The King Site is located in Foster's Bend on the Coosa River in the western portion of Floyd County, Georgia. This site has long been known to residents of Rome and Floyd County, and artifacts from the site are illustrated in the local history written By George Battey, Jr. in 1922 (1922: 76).

The archeological investigations in the Soque Watershed of Habersham County, Georgia, were initiated by the USDA, Soil Conservation Service by Purchase Order 849 - GA-SCS - 76, dated May 3 , 1976.

The Chattahoochee Valley, one of the very important areas of Southeastern archaeology, has come only slowly to the attention of Southeastern specialists.

Under a continuing services contract with the U.S. Army Infantry Center, Directorate of Public Works, Environmental Division, Fort Benning Military Reservation, Panamerican Consultants, Inc. (PCI) conducted a series of Phase III archaeological mitigations at three sites within the reservation.
