Report Abstracts

The following report details findings and recommendations concerning the Phase II archaeological excavation of two locks on the Savannah-Ogeechee Canal.

The Harper house in Augusta, Georgia has been generally regarded as the summer home of George Walton. Because of this belief, the Georgia Heritage Trust began exploring the possibility of purchasing the home to preserve it as a valuable historical property.

As part of the site development program at the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) James D. Mason Intermodal Facility in Savannah, an overpass bridge spanning proposed rail improvements at the facility has been proposed.

This letter presents the results of additional Phase I cultural resources investigations completed as part of the proposed Elba Express Pipeline Project; this undertaking currently is under review by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

Between June and August 1995, R. Christopher Goodwin & Associates, Inc., performed a cultural resources survey and inventory of the proposed 11.3 km (7 mi) 16 in O.D. Southern Natural Gas Company Southern Phase II Expansion Project pipeline corridor.

The archaeological survey was conducted by a two person crew consisting of the Field Director and a Research Assistant. Thirty meter interval shovel test transects were placed in the courtyard areas between the structures throughout John Hope Homes.

TerraNext was contracted by the NorthStar Team to perform a Phase I Cultural Resource Survey for the proposed Cellular Tower Location designated Yahoola Creek (GA-1744-B) in White County, Georgia.

MACTEC Engineering and Consulting, Inc. (MACTEC) was contracted by the Gwinnett County Department of Public Utilities to provide a Phase I Cultural Resources Assessment of the proposed Patterson/Marathon Force Main in Gwinnett County, Georgia.
