As many of these projects will be in-place replacements of county bridges requiring no new right-of-way, these were cleared of archaeological involvement since the right-of-way had been severely disturbed by past construction activities.

In compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 the above project has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those which may be eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.

Little Ogeechee River Site- From a point 1055 feet S.W. of the existing bridge, extending along the existing alignment distance of approximately 2285 feet, to a point N.E. of the existing bridge. Hardin Canal and Salt Creek Site: From a point approximately 1676 feet S.W.

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the following District Two bridge projects were examined for archaeological resources: Jasper County, Project number BRZLB-0159(5).

An archaeological survey has been scheduled for the following bridge replacement projects in District III: I-85-1(161) located in Troup-Harris Counties. Project I-85-1 (161) Troup-Harris consists of widening from 28' to 42' the following bridges on I-85:

Archaeological Examination of District Bridge Projects. In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the following bridge projects were surveyed for archaeological sites: BROLB-0105(1), Elbert County.

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the following Georgia DOT Projects were subjected to archaeological surveys intended to locate sites either on, or that could be considered eligible for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places.

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the following bridge projects were surveyed for archaeological material: BHS-1778(10), Floyd County. The project consists of bridge replacements over Youngmill and Dykes Creek on SR 293.

M-4110(1), Bulloch County is the widening of a .2 mile section of Tillman Road in Statesboro. This section is located between State Routes 73 and 67. The present right-of-way is 50 feet wide but with the proposed work this will be increased to 100 feet.

Project No. M-2040(1), Muscogee County; Clearinghouse No. 72-06-27-02. As a part of the research carried out on this project, an archaeological assessment of the proposed alignment was made. The first step of the assessment was an examination of the Georgia State site files.
