Report Abstracts

This report presents the results of an archaeological survey along Georgia State Route 21 between Millen (in Jenkins County) and Sylvania (in Screven County). The survey corridor was 15.1 miles long and 30 meters in width. State Route 21 is to be widened along the corridor.

In June 1993, Georgia Power Company (GPC) contracted with Brockington and Associates, Inc., to conduct archaeological investigations at three sites previously recommended eligible for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).

During August and September 1993, cultural resource surveys were conducted in portions of Compartments 605, 623, 628, 629, 639, 640, 679 and 687 on the Toccoa Ranger District, in portions of Tannin and Gilmer Counties, Georgia.

As required by the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USAGE) has requested that archeological data recovery excavations be conducted at site 9DA67 under a Memorandum of Agreement between the USACE and DeKalb Resources, Inc.

Cultural heritage resources surveys have been completed for planned timber sales and recreation projects on the Toccoa Ranger District, Chattahoochee National Forest.

During the fall of 1993 cultural/heritage resources surveys were conducted on the Chestatee Ranger District in portions of Compartments 511, 512, 513, 516, 526, 555, 580, 581, and 583.

Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc., contracted with Post, Buckley, Schuh, and Jernigan, Inc., consulting engineers for the Georgia Department of Transportation, to conduct an intensive archeological survey of proposed right of way widening, totaling 40.2 km (25 ml), along U.S.

During February 1994 cultural heritage resources surveys were conducted on portions of Compartments 364, 379, 385, 401, 409, 410, and 411 on the Brasstown Ranger District, Chattahoochee National Forest.

On March 9, 10 and 11, 1994, R.S. Webb & Associates conducted a cultural resources assessment of Oglethorpe Power Corporation's New Georgia - Villa Rica transmission line and substation site in Douglas and Paulding Counties, Georgia.
