Report Abstracts

The Housing Authority of the City of Montezuma, is planning development of a tract of land in Macon County, Georgia. The development will consist of 32 family units, the construction of which will irrevocably damage cultural material, if present, in the area.

A reconnaissance level cultural resources survey of approximately 506 acres of Oconee National Forest, Georgia, was conducted by archaeology students from the University of Georgia during July of 1991.

From July 23 through July 27, 1990, Phase II archaeological testing of the Brigham's Landing Site (WGC1670) on the Savannah River in Burke County, Georgia was conducted by Archaeological Research Services of West Georgia College.

On behalf of the Roswell Historical Society, an archeological survey was conducted at the presumed location of the Roswell Manufacturing Company's first cotton mill (ca. 1839).

From July 1983 to September 1984, cultural resource surveys were conducted on a total of 2815 acres on the Oconee National Forest in Putnam County, Georgia. Field reconnaissance, which included limited subsurface testing, located a total of 26 prehistoric and 17 historic sites.

Since 1987, Mobile District archeologists Ernie Seckinger and Jerry Nielsen have conducted historic resources assessments and survey at Carters Lake, Georgia in preparation for a Historic Properties Management Plan (HPMP).

Following is the archaeology report on the subject project for your use. If it is necessary to make any changes in this report, please bring them to my attention. Unless otherwise notified, I will assume that the report is used exactly as provided.

A Phase I cultural resource survey of 113.2 acres was conducted for the proposed Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport Commuter Runway Project for the City of Atlanta by Garrow & Associates, Inc.
