Report Abstracts

The present Interim Report is not an analysis of all data gathered during the past four years. Anthropological interpretation of the archeology will be presented in only one or two cases where it was thought vital to the understanding of the priority given to a particular site.

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project BRM-4213(1), Chattooga has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).

High trap cut archaeological site (NRHP) is located nearby but will not be impactful by grading and paving plans. Rowe looked at plan and location of site and said no field review would be necessary.

We have reviewed the concept report on the above project, Project IM-20-2(164), for the "Augusta Welcome Center"/S.R.A. No. 164 located in Richmond County along the I-20 East Corridor.

The Georgia Department of Transportation is conducting an Environmental Investigation for subject project S0S-065(001) located in Clinch County. (Location Map Attached). This project consists of grade, drain, base and pave 1.314 mi les in length.

The proposed project, S0SLB-115-1(279) in Toombs County, will consist of constructing on new alignment the approaches to and new concrete bridge over Rocky Creek crossing a county road south of Lyons, Georgia, east of State Route 4, west of State Route 147 and north of State Route 56 to replace a

Project STP00-0005-00(939) located in Sumter County involves adding left turn and auxiliary lanes at the intersection of SR 49 at CR 12/ District Line Road and CR 366/ South Georgia Tech Parkway and SR 49 at CR 13/ New Era Road.

Project SF-120(83), Paulding County is a maintenance project consisting solely of the construction of a cross-drain on SR 120 just south of the intersection of SR 120 and Cole Lake Road near Dallas, Georgia. A Level 2 Archaeological survey was conducted on 11 July 1997 for this minor project.

Location - Pettit Creek crossing State Route 293 in Cartersville, Georgia.

Purpose - Bridge replacement on new alignment.

The above reference 3.13+- acre borrow pit, located .20 mile west of Norris Lake Drive, has been reviewed for wetlands, threatened and endangered species, archaeological resources, and historical resources.
