Report Abstracts

Location -Tributary crossing County Road No. 32 east of the community of Marble Hill and north of State Route 53 in Pickens County.  Purpose -Replace existing bridge with a Double 101 x 81 concrete bridge culvert.

On April 27, 2000, the Georgia Department of Transportation conducted a Phase I archaeological survey on County Road 227 in Dodge County, Georgia. The proposed project would drain, grade, and surface the unimproved county road. AJI work would be done with the existing right-of-way of 80 feet.

On October 25, 2001, staff archaeologists from the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) conducted an archaeological survey for the extension of the double culverts on SR 17/75 at Andrew's Creek in White County, Georgia.

Grove Creek crossing on County Road 52 between Maysville and Horner, Georgia.  Replace existing 107' x 13' wood bridge with 170' x 36' concrete bridge on new alignment.

Archaeological Assessment of a DeKalb County Resurfacing Project: The proposed project would include resurfacing, milling, and striping on SR 13 in DeKalb County.

PaleoWest Archaeology (PaleoWest) conducted a cultural resource assessment on behalf of the AquAeTer, Inc. (AquAeTer) for the proposed expansion of East Point—Grid Georgia communications tower located at 3331 Dodson Drive Connector, Atlanta, Fulton County (33.665277, -84.473101).

R.S. Webb & Associates conducted a Phase I cultural resources survey of tracts included in the USDA/Forest Service’s Fightingtown 2 timber sale project. The project area is located in the Conasauga Ranger District in Fannin County, Georgia.

BRZLB- 109(3), Evans County: In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the project was surveyed with respect to archaeological resources; especially those which may be eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.

In November 2015 a human skull was dislodged during construction of a proposed new addition to Baldwin Hall, which lies just south of the extant portion of the Old Athens Cemetery on the University of Georgia campus.

Project STP-037-2(64), DeKalb County: Determination of No Undertaking for History and Archaeology. The subject project would consist of the leveling and resurfacing of SR 42 from Cedar Grove Road to the Fulton County line (north and south bound divided sections), a distance of 7.708 kilometers.
