Report Abstracts

This summary report covers Federal fiscal years 1995 and 1996: from October, 1994 through September 1996, presenting the activities of the Cultural Heritage Management Program of the Chattahoochee and Oconee National Forests in Georgia.

A cultural resource survey (consisting of both an architectural survey and a Phase I archaeological survey) was conducted prior to the construction of a proposed 150 acre wastewater treatment site and an approximately 5,000 foot outfall sewer line located at the existing Camp Creek Wastewater Tre

In June 1998, TRC Garrow Associates, Inc., performed archaeological testing of 11 sites in southeastern Georgia to evaluate their eligibility for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).

Brockington and Associates, Inc. contracted with Kisinger Campo and Associates, Corporation to conduct an archaeological resources survey of a 10.9 km (6.8 miles) long corridor along State Route 53 (S.R. 53) in Hall County, Georgia from just south of S.R. 13 to Bennefield Road.

Phase II investigations were conducted by Brockington and Associates, Inc. at three archaeological sites at Townsend Bombing Range, McIntosh County, Georgia. These sites, 9MC267, 9MC391, and 9MC392, were initially recorded during a survey of selected portions of the bombing range property.

New South Associates conducted a Phase I Archaeological Survey of the proposed improvements to Log Cabin Road/Bloomfield Road, Bibb County, Georgia. The survey of the approximately 2.82 mile corridor was conducted on January 3 and 4, 1996.

In September and October 1997, TRC Garrow Associates, Inc., conducted Phase I cultural resource investigations at the Catoosa Training Center in Catoosa County, Georgia. Archaeological and historic architectural surveys were included in the study.

New South Associates conducted a Phase I archaeological survey of the proposed Northwest Parkway, Bibb County, Georgia on August 4, 1998. The survey of the approximately 2.1 mile corridor consisted of a combination of new alignment and improvement of the existing alignment.
