Engelhard Corporation mines kaolin in the kaolin belt of central Georgia. The corporation is currently mining lands in the vicinity of Deepstep, a small community in western Washington County.

Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc., of Athens, Georgia, conducted a reconnaissance level cultural resources survey of 807 ha (1993 ac) of Oconee National Forest, Georgia, for the U.S. Forest Service.

Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc., at the request of the Roswell Historical Society, returned in 1990 to the presumed location of the Roswell Manufacturing Company's first cotton mill (ca. 1839) on Vickerys (Big) Creek in downtown Roswell, Georgia.

Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. conducted an archeological survey of the 24.7 ac tract of land that composes the Chief Vann House Historic Site. The survey took place during the Spring of 1990.

Archaeological sites 9BK65, 9BK66 and 9BK67 were recorded by Georgia Society of Archaeology member Gary Doster in 1987. Mr. Doster and the owner of the property, Dr. Forest Kellogg made small collections from the sites and donated those collections to the University of Georgia.
