Report Abstracts

On September 19, 1977, the Earth Systems Division of SSI received authorization from Roy F. Weston, Inc. to prepare an archaeological, botanical and land application reconnaissance for the proposed wastewater treatment facilities for the Alapaha, Georgia, 201 Facilities Plan.

The proposed project consists of the paving of 0.6 m (2 ft) of the existing shoulders along SR 168. The project would begin at the intersection of SR 135 in Berrien County and would end at the intersection of SR 37 in Clinch County.

The proposed project would consist of the replacement of the bridge on CR 245 over Willacoochee Creek approximately 1.67 km (1.04 mi) east of the junction of SR 107 in Ben Hill County.

The proposed project would consist of gradinq, drainage, base, and surfacing on C.R. 11 in Berrien County. The proposed project would begin at the intersection of S.R. 11/U.S. 129 and C.R. 11 north of Nashville and would continue easterly along C. R. 11 to an ending point at C. R. 18.

The bridges on S.R. 76 over Young's Mill Creek and New River will be replaced on existing alignment. Young's Mill Creek will be replaced on the 100' of existing right-of-way. This corridor was surveyed for a length of 2300 feet.

The Fort Hawkins Commission, since its reestablishment in 1990, has steadfastly refused to develop the Fort Hawkins property until the necessary archaeological research could be conducted to guide any such development.

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project EDS- 72(31), Elbert County, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP)

The proposed project consists of the paving of 0.6 m (2 ft) of the existing shoulders along SR 233. The project would begin at the intersection of SR 90 in Ben Hill County and would end at the intersection of SR 112 in Wilcox County.

The following report, is a record of the preliminary surface reconnaissance for the Noonday-Rubes-Southern Lake Allatoona 201 Facilities Plan (Mayes, sudderth & Etheridge, Inc., Contract No. 9784).

A review of literature was performed, utilizing the library facilities at The University of Tennessee, The Georgia Institute of Technology, and Georgia State University. Dr. David Halley provided and both have contributed freely to the information which follows.
