Report Abstracts

This report summarizes the field work at five archaeological sites located on the property of Southern Paper Manufacturing Company near East Dublin, Laurens County, Georgia. The archaeological investigations were sponsored by Media General,, Inc. of Saddle Brook, New Jersey.

This work reports the field investigations at five archaeological sites located on the property of Southeast Paper Manufacturing Company near East Dublin, Laurens County, Georgia. The archaeological investigations were sponsored by Media General, Inc. of Saddle Brook, New Jersey.

Panamerican Consultants, Inc. (PCI) conducted an archaeological pedestrian survey of 9,732.6 acres from October 17, 1998 to March 26, 1999. The investigation represents the first product of a five-year contract with the National Park Service and Fort Stewart.

In May 1997, Brockington and Associates, Inc. conducted an archaeological survey of the proposed 15th Street extension in Liberty County, Georgia. The project was conducted for Newkirk Environmental Consultants, Inc.

TRC Garrow Associates was contracted by Lee County Planning and Development to survey 19 segments of existing and new right-of-way in various portions of Lee County. There are two new roads proposed for construction, extending a total distance of 7.3 miles.

On 7 and 8 August 2001, Brockington and -Associates, Inc., conducted Phase II archaeological testing on selected sites located on Lake Oliver, one of three impoundments that comprise the Middle Chattahoochee Hydroelectric Project (FERC #2177).

The cultural resource survey of the Dexter, Georgia sewerage system improvements was performed by Cultural Resources Services, Inc. in May, 1980.

An archeological survey of the proposed construction site of the new Wastewater Treatment Facility in Cadwell, Georgia, was conducted at the request of Lovell Engineering Associates, Atlanta, Georgia. The survey failed to locate any archeological or historical resources.

No further work is recommended for this site within the five acre parcel. Should ay work be planned for the remaining twenty acres, particularly along this sandy ridge, then an assessment should be done.
