Between 9 and 20 September, 1980, Southwind Archaeological Enterprises of Tallahassee, Florida, a private consulting firm, conducted a program of intensive archeological investigations of a 100 acre tract of the Fort Stewart Military Reservation.

No sites were located. The clay and organic layer in Test #2 would seem to indicate a quiet deposition environment like a shallow backwater. The high land area apparently is a recently drained section of the swamp itself, not a likely site location.
