I conducted an on-site inspection of the above referenced project on May 5, 1976. There was no indication that the project would involve archaeological resources.

No existing or eligible National Register archaeological resources were located within the project's area of potential environmental effect.

Between 9 and 20 September, 1980, Southwind Archaeological Enterprises of Tallahassee, Florida, a private consulting firm, conducted a program of intensive archeological investigations of a 100 acre tract of the Fort Stewart Military Reservation.

No sites were located. The clay and organic layer in Test #2 would seem to indicate a quiet deposition environment like a shallow backwater. The high land area apparently is a recently drained section of the swamp itself, not a likely site location.

No cultural deposits or human alteration of this land assignable to either a prehistoric or non-20th century origin was apparent. Therefore, neither site seems to warrant further testing or National Registry nomination.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District has completed an archeological reconnaissance in selected parcels to be impacted by the proposed Hinesville - Fort Stewart Regional Sewage Treatment Facility in Liberty County, Georgia.

Brockington and Associates, Inc., conducted a cultural resources survey of the western portion of the proposed Coastal Georgia MegaPark West in Liberty County, Georgia.

I, the Principal Investigator: Robert B. Patton, do hereby certify that the Area of Potential Effect (as described on page 1 of this form) for GDOT Project BRST-031-1(41) has been thoroughly surveyed for archaeological resources and that no such resources were located or identified.
