Report Abstracts

This report describes archaeological looting at site 9Ce1207 on the Fort Benning Military Reservation in Chattahoochee County, Georgia. The looted site is situated along Upatoi Creek, in Compartment K-10.

In compliance with the Georgia Environmental Policy Act (GEPA) of 1991, project GIP-341(44), Long County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) .

Intensive archaeological survey was conducted by Southern Research in 1996 and 1997 on land management Compartment K-11, which is located in Chattahoochee County, Georgia. This work was done for the U.S.

In May of 2001, Southeastern Archeological Services conducted an intensive archeological survey for the proposed Gray bypass, in Jones County, Georgia. Major portions of the bypass had been surveyed before (Gresham 2000), but the original alignment went through the Clinton Historic District.

In January 2001, Southeastern Archeological Services (SAS) conducted an intensive archeological survey of four alternative corridors for the proposed North Burton Transmission Line in Rabun County, Georgia.

To ensure that Augusta/Richmond County is in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (as amended), a Phase I archeological survey was undertaken along the proposed St. Sebastian Way/Greene Street/Fifteenth Street/Riverwatch Parkway project.

In November of 2000, Southeastern Archeological Services conducted an archeological survey of a 5.2 ha (13 ac) tract for the city of Grovetown in Columbia County, Georgia, for the Georgia Department of Transportation. The city wishes to develop the land for soccer fields.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is proposing to widen a portion of U.S. Highway 441 south of the town of Commerce in southern Jackson County.

Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. (SAS) contracted with Infratec Consultants, Inc. to conduct a Phase I archeological survey of the area of potential effect for the construction of the first phase of a wastewater spray facility in Dawson County, Georgia.

In March, 2007 Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc., conducted a Phase I archeological survey of a 6.9-ha (17-ac) tract of floodplain land adjacent to State Route 211 on the south side of the Mulberry River in southern Hall County.
