Project #BRF-046-2(8) consists of replacing, on new alignment, the U.S. 278/S.R. 12 bridge over the Oconee River (Figure 1 and 2).

The proposed projects EDS-27(114) and NH-IM-85-1(160) would provide a new location roadway connecting US 27/SR 1 with the 1-85 and 1-185 interchange, and modify the existing 1-85 and 1-185 interchange to provide a fully directional interchange with US 27/SR 1.

Southern Research was contracted by Mr. John D. Harrison, Jr. of Greenwood, South Carolina, who plans to develop a tract of land adjacent to the J. Strom Thurmond Reservoir, a US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) property.

An archaeological reconnaissance survey was conducted on August 3, 1996, on approximately 1.69 ac of floodplain and upland for 'Natural Resource Services, Inc., on behalf of Five Ducks, Inc.

Archaeological investigations of the Plant McIntosh Combined Cycle Facility Tract were conducted in two phases.

An intensive cultural resource assessment survey was performed by Environmental Services, Inc. (ESI), Savannah, Georgia, on +117 acres in Effingham County, Georgia where the Effingham County Board of Education proposes to construct a middle school and high school are the next several years.

In March 1999, Brockington and Associates, Inc. conducted Phase I archaeological survey and limited Phase II testing of the previously recorded archaeological site 9ER103.
