Johnsontown was a low-income black community on the northside of Atlanta, which existed between 1912, when Columbus and Callie Johnson first bought property in the neighborhood, and 1982, when the creation of the Lenox Square MARTA rapid rail station necessitated its demolition.

An Archaeological and Historical Survey of the Proposed Tyty Wastewater Treatment Facility, Tift County, Georgia

The present report summarizes a cultural resource survey of five tracts of National Forest land (770.68 acres) scheduled for exchange with R.N. Leavell of Athens, Georgia. These tracts are located within two timber compartments on the Oconee National Forest and are accessible as follows:

Intensive archaeological test excavations, sponsored by the United States Army Corps of Engineers, were conducted at two prehistoric stone cairn sites located in the Clarks Hill Lake Reservoir area of Lincoln County, Georgia and McCormick County, South Carolina.

A cultural resources survey of the proposed Shoal Creek Reservoir in Henry County, Georgia was conducted by Garrow & Associates, Inc. of Atlanta for the Clayton County Water Authority.

The research design and proposal which follows was developed as a testing strategy to asses the eligibility status of six prehistoric archaeological sites identified within the Shoal Creek Reservoir project area can be assessed for potential eligibility to the National Register of Historic Place

This report documents Phase II cultural resources testing of the proposed Shoal Creek Reservoir in Henry County, Georgia, by Garrow & Associates, Inc., for the Clayton County Water Authority.

This study has shown that the three county area that includes Robins Air Force Base is rich in both archaeological and historical resources. Archaeological sites reflective of the total known prehistory of Georgia are known to exist within or a short distance from Robins Air Force Base.
