Report Abstracts

This report presents a summary of the Phase I and II archaeological investigations conducted across the Weyerhaeuser/Flint River tract located northwest of the confluence of the Flint River and Potato Creek in Upson County, Georgia.

Under a continuing services contract with the U.S. Army Infantry Center, Directorate of Public Works, Environmental Division, Fort Benning Military Reservation, Panamerican Consultants, Inc. (PCI) conducted a series of Phase II archaeological investigations at 16 sites within the reservation.

A staff member in the Office of the State Archaeologist has made an on-site inspection of the property on which the proposed Peach County Industrial Park is to be located. No indication of an archaeological site was indicated by this inspection.

In a Programmatic Agreement among the Rural Utilities Service, the Georgia State Historic Preservation Officer (GASHPO), the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation and the Georgia Transmission Corporation dated October 11, 2001, it is stipulated in Section I.1.a..

This report describes the previous historical and archaeological research at the Middle Place (9CH158) site on Ossabaw Island. Considered to be the largest archaeological site on Ossabaw, the site has had periodic occupation from about 4,500 years ago up until the 1970s.

Environmental Corporation of America’s (ECA) client, Southern Communications Services, d/b/a Southern LINC Wireless c/o Value Concepts, Inc., is proposing to construct a telecommunications facility as described in the following FCC Form 620, New Tower (NT) Submission Packet.

New South Associates (NSA) was tasked with a Phase I Archaeological Survey of 2,561 acres at Richard B. Russell Dam and Lake in Georgia and South Carolina. As a result of the survey, 59 archaeological sites and 20 isolated finds were recorded. Nine of the sites were previously identified.

The Sugarloaf Parkway Extension II proposes to extend Sugarloaf Parkway as a limited access four-lane freeway with a depressed 44-foot wide median from 1-85 to SR 316 (University Parkway).

2015 project description: The proposed project would consist of the replacement of the bridge carrying SR 82 Spur over the North Oconee River (see Figure 1. Project Location Map). The bridge would be replaced at its existing location and an off-site detour would be utilized during construction.

The Jimmy DeLoach Parkway Phase II (P.I. 522790) and the Jimmy DeLoach Parkway at US 80 Interchange (P.I. 0007259) project designs are interconnected, and have an approximately 3,750 foot overlap between US 80 and the CSX Railroad crossing.
