Report Abstracts

This report documents the results of the cultural resources survey of the proposed Clinton Distribution Substation, Jones County, Georgia, for Oglethorpe Power Corporation. A total of 40 shovel tests was excavated within the project area, and two sites were identified.

Archeological data recovery was conducted in the summer of 1988 at the Mill Creek Site (9Su6) located in the southwest portion of the City of Americus, Sumter County, Georgia.

This report presents the results of the Cultural Resource Inventories R- and R-11 of the Coosa River Crossing of the Plant Bowen - Rocky Mountain Transmission Line (PB-RMTL).

Cobb County plans to expand its airport, McCollum Field, in three phases between 1987 and 2005 in accordance with the Federal Aviation Administration-approved master plan. The first project is to extend the runway 1740' (544m) eastward, plus 1000' (312.5m) more for an overrun area.

From October 8 through 13, 1989, Robert S. Webb, Beth Gantt and Sterling Howard conducted an intensive coverage cultural resources survey of the proposed Clermont-Murrayville transmission line corridor and substation site in Hall County, Georgia.

Garrow & Associates, Inc. conducted a cultural resources survey of the proposed Gum Log transmission line and substation site from April 12 - 13, 1988.

The intensive cultural resources survey of Oglethorpe Power Corporation's proposed 2.0 ha (4.9 ac) Smarr substation tract and 4.0 km (2.5 mi) of 30.5 m (100 ft) width transmission line right-of-way discovered one archeological site, 9Mo482.

This report documents the results of a cultural resources survey of the proposed 15-5-acre Boggs Road Oglethorpe Power Corporation Substation Site in Gwinnett County, Georgia. The survey identified one historic site and one historic isolated find within the project area.

In a joint enterprise with the Georgia Electric Membership Corporation (GEMC), Oglethorpe Power Corporation is planning to build a training center facility in Monroe County, Georgia. The facility, located 8 km south of Forsyth, Georgia, will cover an 8 ha area.

This report covers three archeological investigations which were carried out by Southeast Archeological Center staff members at the Kolb Farm Battlefield Site, Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, during 1985-1986.
