Report Abstracts

This report documents the results of the cultural resources survey of the proposed Steele Road Substation site, Spalding County, Georgia. The field work was carried out by the author and one field technician on January 28, 1991.

During the week of March 26-30, 1990, Mobile District archaeologists Ernie Seckinger and Jerry Nielsen surveyed MCLB-Albany for historic properties. The survey discovered 8 new archaeological sites and attempted to find one known site.

A series of cultural resource surveys related to the construction of a sewer line extension, the construction of a silt impoundment dam, and disposal of a small surplus property tract were performed at Fort Gordon, Georgia, on July 10 to 12, 1990.

A series of cultural resource surveys were performed on Fort Benning in areas where timber harvesting and a training exercise were to take place. One isolated occurrence in Alabama and one site in Georgia were located. The site has been badly disturbed by previous road construction.

Cultural resources survey of Oglethorpe Power Company's proposed 3.39 acre Nancy Hart Substation, in Hart County, Georgia, was conducted by Brockington and Associates, Inc.

This report documents the results of the cultural resource survey of the proposed Sandersville 230 kV loop transmission line corridor, Washington County, Georgia. The field work was conducted by the author and one field technician on April 8 and 9,1991.

This report documents the results of the cultural resources survey of the existing Dover-Egypt transmission line corridor in Screven and Effingham Counties, Georgia. The field work was carried out by the author and one field technician between May 14 and May 18, 1990.

Archival and archeological research were conducted for the proposed Riverwalk Project to be located along the Chattahoochee River in downtown Columbus, Georgia. These investigations were conducted for Jordan, Jones and Goulding, Inc., Project Engineers.

On September 4 and 5, 1990, a Phase II testing project was undertaken on the Crump Site (GA04-53/9Un54) prior to county road widening construction.

The Lamar site is a unit of Ocmulgee National Monument located near Macon, Georgia. The site itself was a palisaded mound center consisting of two mounds and a village. The area encompassed by the palisade is approximately 21.5 acres.
