The project area was archeologically investigated by SAS field archeologist Ron Schoettmer on March 16, 2011. There was very little surface exposure, so survey relied on shovel testing. Three shovel tests were initially excavated on the south side of the road, and all were negative.

The proposed project site would include an approximate 100-foot by 100-foot (30-meter by 30-meter) lease area.

During June, 1988, Gulf Engineers & Consultants, Inc., and R. Christopher Goodwin & Associates, Inc. conducted archeological data recovery at Site 9Me219 on the Fort Benning Military Reservation.
