Report Abstracts

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project CSMLS-0008-00(625), Fulton County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places

On April 2-3, 2008 Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Cultural Resources staff conducted an archaeological survey of a 45-acre tract of Tennessee Valley Authority land on Nottely Reservoir in Union County, Georgia.

In December 2005 and January 2006, Environmental Services, Inc. (ESI) performed an intensive cultural resource assessment survey and limited site excavation at the 1,350-acre Dean Island Tract in Glynn County, Georgia, on behalf of LandMar Group, LLC.

Environmental Services, Inc. (ESI) performed a Phase I survey of the Dean Island Tract between December 2005 and January 2006. The report was submitted for agency review to the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Historic Preservation Division.

During August 2006, Edwards-Pitman Environmental, Inc. (EPEI) conducted a Phase I archaeological survey of the proposed location for the Interstate (I) 85 Noise Barriers project.

A Phase I cultural resources survey of a stream corridor in Newton County, Georgia, was conducted to locate and identify cultural resources within the project area, and to assess the significance of each resource.

Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. conducted data recovery excavations on 9GO231 in Gordon County, Georgia. Excavations were conducted prior to construction of a replacement bridge for State Route 156 over Salacoa Creek.

The Georgia Department of Transportation proposes to construct sidewalks along four roads in the City of Douglasville, Douglas County, Georgia. Sidewalks are to be added on one side of each road within the existing right-of-way.

The publication Woodland Period Archaeology of Northern Georgia was completed by W. Dean Wood and William R. Bowen in 1995.
