Report Abstracts

The cultural resource survey documented in this report was conducted prior to construction of the proposed CSX Intermodal Atlanta Terminal in Fulton County, Georgia.

Cultural resource surveys were conducted on 1,100 acres of the Oconee National Forest in Jasper County, Georgia in areas located west of Georgia Highway 11 during the months of February through May 1997.

This research was supported in part by an appointment to the Postgraduate Environmental Management Participation Program at the U.S. Army Environmental Center (USAEC) administered by the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education through an interagency agreement between the U. S.

New South Associates conducted a Phase I archaeological survey of the proposed realignment and widening of Hazelbrand Road and the improvements to SR 142 on January 22, 1997. The Hazelbrand Road project corridor is approximately 5,000 feet long with a 100 foot right-of-way.

The cultural resource survey of the Klondike Road widening project in Rockdale County, Georgia, was undertaken by Garrow & Associates, Inc., under contract to ICF Kaiser Engineers, Inc.

An intensive cultural resources survey was carried out for the Oglethorpe Power Corporation's proposed West Newton Substation in Baker County, Georgia. The total area surveyed included a roughly 1.2 hectare (3 acre) area of impact for the substation construction.

In April, 1997, an archeological survey was conducted prior to the construction of a 42 inch diameter water line on the west side of the Ocmulgee River.
