Background In July 2000, R.S. Webb & Associates conducted a Phase-I cultural resources survey of the proposed Brazells Creek Golf Course, 89-hectare [ha (220-acre)] addition at Gordonia-Altamaha State Park in Tattnall County.

From 14 August 2000 to 18 August 2000 Brockington and Associates, Inc., conducted Phase II archaeological testing of 9CK1057 and 9CK1063 in Cherokee County, Georgia, for Georgia Power Company.

Between July 6 and August 6, 1999 Southern Research Historic Preservation Consultants, Inc. conducted an intensive archaeological survey of the Riverwood Plantation/Big Three Golf Club in Columbia County, Georgia for Canal Industries, Inc.

In June and July, 1999, Brockington and Associates, Inc. conducted a cultural resources survey of the approximately 278 acre McGraw Ford Substation Tract, in Cherokee County, Georgia through Dial Cordy and Associates, Inc. for Georgia Power Company.

An intensive archaeological resources survey was carried out for the proposed Kinnards Mill Substation in Butts County, Georgia. The project was carried out in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act by personnel qualified under 36 CFR Part 61.

The Coastal Resources Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GDNR) plans to construct a fishing pier and boat service dock adjacent to the city park on the north side of the St. Mary's River at St. Mary's, Georgia.

Site 9QU55 is a mufti-component prehistoric site whose predominant component dates to the Woodland Period. This site is located within the boundaries of the Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge, between Soapstone Creek and Lake Walter F. George, in Quitman County, Georgia.

From 2-12 January 2001, Brockington and Associates, Inc., conducted an archaeological resources survey for a proposed electrical substation adjacent to Raccoon Creek, just outside of Baconton in Mitchell County.

Phase 1II block excavations and machine stripping at site 9Jk173 -- within the proposed impoundment area of the Bear Creek Water Supply Reservoir of southwestern Jackson County -- yielded evidence for a single Late Cartersville ceramic component.

In July 2000, Brockington and Associates, Inc., conducted Phase II archaeological testing of two sites (9CK1087 and 9CK1089) in the Cartersville-McGrau Ford transmission line corridor, in Cherokee County, Georgia. This project was conducted for Georgia Power Company.
