Report Abstracts

This report outlines the methods and results of an archaeological assessment of a proposed 10-acre site for Low Rent Housing in Acworth, Georgia. Results of the assessment are negative.

An archaeological and botanical survey was conducted on the proposed Blakely 201 Facilities Plan in Blakely, Georgia, for John J. Harte Associates, Inc. Authorization was received on October 3, 1977. Field work began on October 10 and was completed on October 12.

Soil Systems, Inc., Earth Systems Division conducted an archaeological, botanical and wildlife survey for the proposed Thomaston, Georgia sewage collection facilities on May 7 and 8, 1980, at the request of Miller, Stevenson and Steinichen, Inc.

On June 3, 1980, a cultural resource survey was conducted at four locations in the northwestern part of Talbot County, Georgia.

At Little Ocmulgee State Park in Telfair and Wheeler counties, Georgia, an area proposed for development was archaeologically surveyed on 27 March 1980. Development consists of a parking lot and boat ramp. A pedestrian survey was conducted.

In April 1980, an archaeological survey was conducted of an area proposed for a wastewater treatment facility in Midville, Burke County, Georgia. The purpose was to recover sufficient information for determining National Register eligibility of a previously identified site.

The Savannah District Army Corps of Engineers is proposing the widening of the Savannah River Harbor by 125 feet along a 5.6 mile section of Hutchinson Island. These modifications extend from Kings Island Turning Basin to Fig Island Turning Basin.

SSI conducted a cultural resource survey of the additional area to be impacted by the proposed Rocky Mountain Pumped Storage Facility, Floyd County, Georgia, at the request of the Georgia Power Company. The survey was conducted between September 24 and October 19, 1979.

At Etowah Mounds Archaeological Area in Bartow County, Georgia, an addition to the building housing the museum is planned. The area of proposed development was archaeologically surveyed in January 1980.
