In December of 1824 the Georgia Legislature granted Ebenezer Jencks a charter for the construction of a canal from the Ogeechee River to the port city of Savannah, thereby providing the impetus for the construction of the State's first such facility.

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto.

This report describes the results of the archaeological survey of the proposed Dade County Industrial Park, Trenton, Georgia. The archaeological survey was conducted for Hensley-Schmidt, Inc.

On June 24, 1979 I conducted an archaeological assessment of portions of Troup County, Georgia to determine the future impact of sewer treatment plant construction on the historical and pre-historic resources of the area.

Archaeological investigations were undertaken at the former location of the Thomas M. Gilmer House (c. 1800) in Oglethorpe County, Northeast Georgia. The house had been relocated in nearby Wilkes County.

In November 1979, Inter-Agency Archeological Services-Atlanta (IAS), requested proposals from interested and qualified businesses for a literature search and archaeological testing of portions of three blocks in the Historic District of Savannah, Georgia.

On February 7, 8, 17, 28, 1981, on-site Cultural Resource studies of the proposed Covington-Newton County Force Main Project © 130465-02) construction corridors was conducted. No Cultural Resources were located in the proposed construction area contracted for study.

Cultural Resources Survey was conducted on the 91-acre Withrow Land Exchange Tract (Compartment 784) in Western Gilmer County, April 6, 1981. The Cohutta Mountain foothill land is very steep, except for a 19-acre old field, now grown up in trees, along Rodgers Creek which bisects the Valley.

In May, 1978, Chung Ho Lee and Paul R. Fish conducted an archaeological survey of areas to be impacted by the proposed Ashburn, Georgia, 201 Facilities Plan. No archaeological sites were discovered as a result of survey by Lee and Fish (1978).
