In late May of 2007, resource managers from the Oconee Ranger District (Oconee RD) of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests became aware of an outbreak of the Southern Pine Beetle (SPB) on the Hitchiti Experimental Forest in Jasper County, Georgia.

In December 2007 and January 2008, Environmental Services, Inc. (ESI), on behalf of Meriwether Industrial, LLC, performed an intensive archaeological assessment survey of a 26acre tract within the Meriwether County Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Meriwether County, Georgia.

Georgia Power Company contracted TRC to carry out a cultural resource survey of approximately 13 miles of an approximately 20-mile pipeline corridor, 95 percent of which will be placed in existing transmission line right-of-way, in Cobb and Fulton counties, Georgia.

A phase I archaeological survey and limited testing was conducted on the grounds of the Jesup Railroad depot in Jesup, Wayne County in anticipation of the rehabilitation of the depot. This project was conducted on behalf of Bron Cleveland Associates, Inc.

On December 10 to 14, 2007 and February 9, 2008, URS Corporation undertook Phase II limited testing of a Middle and Late Woodland site identified during the Phase I survey for the proposed bridge replacement on SR 92 over the Flint River in Fayette and Spalding Counties, Georgia.

From January to April 2008, Edwards-Pitman Environmental Inc. (EPEI) conducted an archaeological survey of the proposed State Route (SR) 44 improvements project in Putnam and Greene Counties, Georgia.

Between 14 and 18 July2008, Brockington and Associates, Inc. conducted an intensive Phase I archaeological resources survey of proposed improvements and widening to Hillcrest Parkway in Dublin, Laurens County, Georgia.
