Report Abstracts

New South Associates conducted a Phase I archeological survey of the proposed Suwanee Bypass on March 22 and 23, 1994. The project area is approximately 2.2 miles of new alignment with a right-of-way of 160 feet.

During September-October 1991, December 1992, and March 1994 cultural heritage resources surveys were conducted on the Oconee National Forest. Approximately 910 acres in Jasper, Jones, Putnam, and Greene Counties, Georgia were surveyed prior to timber harvesting and recreation activities.

In August 1993, Brockington and Associates completed the cultural resources survey of the 4,107 acre Thompson-Towns Tract, Screven County, Georgia. The tract is managed by the COE-Savannah as a wildlife mitigation area for the Russell Reservoir project.

A cultural resource assessment survey was conducted of the proposed ECI Tap 46 KV Transmission Line and proposed ECI 46/25 KV Substation, Emanuel County, Georgia in April 1994.

An intensive archeological survey was conducted by Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. in Clayton County, Georgia along the proposed Jesters Creek Greenway.

An archeological survey of the 9th Street Block project area was conducted during a two week period in the months of February and March 1994. The one-block project area is the proposed site of a new Police Headquarter building and parking deck. The survey was conducted in two phases.

The Georgia Department of Transportation contracted with Hughes, Good, O'Leary, and Ryan, Inc. consulting engineers, to plan and design the widening of a portion of the Carrollton Bypass. This firm subcontracted with Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc.

An intensive cultural resources survey of the Proposed Morris Transmission Line in Clay County, Georgia was conducted by Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. for Oglethorpe Power Corporation (OPC).

An intensive cultural resources survey of the proposed Ellabelle substation in Bryan County, Georgia was conducted by Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. under contract with Oglethorpe Power Corporation.

The Georgia Power Company constructed and operates the Sinclair hydroelectric generating facility located on the Oconee River just north of Milledgeville. The 15,300 ac (6,070 ha) Lake Sinclair was formed by the completion of the Sinclair Dam in 1951.
