A cultural resources survey of portions of the proposed sewer improvements in Carnesville, Georgia was undertaken to locate, identify, and evaluate archeological sites that may be impacted during construction. The survey recorded four sites where cultural material occurred.

Data recovery excavations were conducted at cultural property GP-JO-05, Jones County, Georgia, between August 19 and September 30, 1985 and between April 1 and May 23, 1986. Cultural property GP-JO-05 was owned, and sometimes occupied, by the Freeman family between cat 1817 to 1876.

Data recovery excavations were conducted on a portion of cultural property GP-SN-13, in Screven County, Georgia. Three eight by eight meter blocks were excavated to an average depth of 75 cm.

Archaeological data recovery at Georgia Power Cultural Property LI-O1 was conducted during the winter and spring of 1985. This multi-component site proved to be badly disturbed by natural and cultural forces, but nonetheless yielded a rich material culture.
