Report Abstracts

During the winter quarter of 1978, (January-March) the Department of Anthropology conducted test excavations of two archeological sites on the U.S. Military Ocean Terminal, King's Bay (MOTKI), located in southeastern Camden County, Georgia.

Main project: The original proposed project consisted of widening SR 119/Airport Road from the existing two lane facility to a four lane divided highway with a 24 foot raised median on a proposed right-of-way that varies from 160 to 200 feet.

There are no previously recorded archaeological sites which have been identified within 1 kilometer of the project area. There are no known previous archaeological surveys of the project area.

TRC was contracted by the City of Flovilla to carry out a Phase I cultural resource survey of a 6-acre tract slated for a wastewater treatment facility in Butts County, Georgia.

The project would include the replacement of existing uneven and inadequate sidewalks, as well as the provision of ramps and streetscape improvments along the south side of Main St, beginning at Church St and ending at First Ave.

This project consists of the replacement of the bridge on SR 118 at Muckaloochee Creek. The bridge would be replaced in its existing location, while utilizing an off-site detour. The approximate project length is 400ft. Existing right-of-way is 80ft.

The proposed project would consist of the reconstruction of the on-ramp from Abernathy Road to SR 400 northbound to add approximately one-quarter mile of pavement.

The proposed streetscape and sidewalk improvement extend along Dogwood Drive approximately 2,300 linear feet from its intersection with South Central Avenue Oust south of MP 1.44) to North Avenue (MP 1.81), perpendicular to the City's main business corridor.

The project is located in the City of Marietta at the intersection of SR 360/Powder Spring Street and SR 5/ SR 120/South Marietta Parkway.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) proposes to upgrade roadway intersection signals at nine highway intersections in Cherokee County, Georgia.
