STP-002-4(2) proposes to construct four passing lanes and a turn lane on State Route 44 from the city of Eatonton in Putnam County southerly to the Jones County line. Passing lane #1 will provide a southbound passing lane between mil markers 0.05 and 1.10 for a total of 1.05 miles.

The proposed project would widen and reconstruct US 84/SR 38 from CR 107 to the city limits of Screven, Georgia. Existing right-of-way varies between 100-300 feet and up to an additional 50 feet would be required. The total project length is approximately 6.8 miles.

The project proposes to remove and replace the Georgia Southwestern Railroad Bridge on South Lee Street in Americus. To accommodate a required increase in railroad under-clearance, the grade of South Lee Street would have to be elevated between West College Street and Brannan Avenue.
