During September-October 1991, December 1992, and March 1994 cultural heritage resources surveys were conducted on the Oconee National Forest. Approximately 910 acres in Jasper, Jones, Putnam, and Greene Counties, Georgia were surveyed prior to timber harvesting and recreation activities.

A cultural resource survey was conducted on a proposed borrow pit location for the U.S. Army Camp Frank C. Merrill, in Lumpkin county, Georgia.

During the winter of 1985-86, three sites in Compartment 169 of the Oconee National Forest, Greene County, Georgia, were disturbed by logging operations and subsequently partially excavated by a relic collector.

A cultural resources survey was conducted on April 19, 1995, by Archaeologist Jack T. Wynn on a 60-plus acre tract in Catoosa County, Georgia. The land was given to the county for limited development as the Elsie Holmes Conservation Education Facility.

This inventory report covers surveys conducted and sites recorded from 1984 through 1992.

Cultural resources surveys have been completed on 1,356 acres on the Brasstown Ranger District, Chattahoochee National Forest. These surveys have been conducted prior to planned land disturbing activities as timber sales, roads, and wildlife openings in Towns and Union Counties during FY91.

A cultural resources survey was conducted on the 26-acre Johnson Tract 164, on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers managed land at Lake Hartwell, in the Reed Creek Community of Hart County.

A cultural resources survey was conducted by the author on a 3- acre parcel proposed for a borrow pit adjacent to the current City of Baldwin Wastewater Treatment Plant on the upper South Fork of Little Mud Creek in southeastern Habersham County, Georgia.

The Vining Archaeological Phase for Central Georgia was first proposed in 1938 by A.R. Kelly, and was subsequently subsumed into a larger, earlier phase. Recent test excavations of four sites: Guthrie, Passport, Fant-Davis, and Elliott, by the U.S.
