Original: The proposed improvements to SR 47 consist of the installation of 30-inch curb-and-gutter with five-foot sidewalks and pedestrian facilities.

A cultural resources survey was conducted in Lamar County, Georgia, by Garrow & Associates, Inc. of Atlanta for Raytheon Service Company.

The Georgia Department of Transportation contracted with Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. to survey the expanded right-of-way for the proposed widening of U.S. 19 from the north edge of Butler, in Taylor County, northward to a point about one mile in Upson County.

At the request of the U.S.D.A. Forest Service, the Ohio Valley Archaeological Associates conducted an archaeological survey and assessment of approximately 6000 acres of land located in the Red River Gorge Geological Area, Stanton District, Daniel Boone National Forest.

A cultural resources survey of the proposed widening and reconstruction of State Route (SR) 1/US 27 was conducted 20 July to 24 July 1992, for the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The proposed project would replace the existing 2 lane bridge with a slightly longer concrete structure that is approximately 40 feet wide. The existing bridge is approximately 100 feet in length and the proposed bridge would be approximately 200 feet.

The purpose of project MSL-0004-00(427) is to widen Lee Road and South Sweetwater Road from 1-20 West to US 78/SR 5/SR 8-Bankhead Highway to provide greater mobility in the area.
