Report Abstracts

This is an addendum to archaeological survey reports (Goad 1975a, b) submitted to the Soil Conservation Service for proposed drainage projects in the Bishop Creek Watershed, Appling and Jeff Davis Counties, and the Ten Mile-Briar Creek Watershed, Bacon County, Georgia.

During June 1976 an intensive survey within the Little Satilla Watershed was undertaken to determine the presence of archeological and historical sites and to determine the impact of proposed stream channelization on them.

The proposed projects would widen US 441 from the Florida state line to Pearson, Georgia. The proposed projects are approximately 60 miles in length.

The Jerome Crosby Wetland Mitigation Tract is located just west of Willacoochee in Atkinson County, Georgia. The proposed wetland/stream mitigation site is approximately 200 acres in size and is located between US 82 and the Alapaha River.

The proposed project would consist of pile rehabilitation on 17 bridges.

The proposed project would tie Dasher Street into State Route 520/U.S. 82, widen Dasher Street, and add an accel lane to Railroad Avenue. Dasher Street would be extended on new location approximately 100 feet north and would tie into State Route 520/U.S. 82, creating a new intersection.

The proposed project consists of a re-evaluation for shoulder paving on US 441/SR 89 in Echols, Clinch, and Atkinson Counties.

The proposed project would consist of the paving of approximately 0.6 m (2 ft left and right) of the existing shoulders on SR 135.

The proposed project consists of shoulder paving on U.S. 441/S. R. 89 in Echols, Clinch, and Atkinson Counties. The proposed project on U.S. 441/S.R. 89 would begin at the Florida State Line and continue northerly along U.S. 441/S.R.

Projects FR-023-1(8), (9) in Atkinson and Coffee counties represents the proposed widening of U.S. 441/S.R. 31 from the intersection of U.S. 441 and U.S. 82 in Pearson to C.R. 588 approximately five miles south of Douglas. The existing two-lane facility would be widened to four-lanes.
