Report Abstracts

This letter represents the preliminary archaeological report for the proposed sewage system improvements for the City of Athens, Contract Number 10-32-RR104-039. To date approximately 60 percent of the area has been surveyed.

This report deals with the archaeological assessment of proposed construction of an approximately 100 mile four-laned facility from S.R. 306 near Coal Mountain, Georgia to the North Carolina border.

The Oconee Ranger District of the Chattahoochee- Oconee National Forests is considering trading away 137 acres in Oglethorpe County, Georgia. This is an isolated tract of land that is over five kilometers from the nearest Forest land, and it is therefore hard to manage.

During the spring of 2007, the Southeast Archeological Center (SEAC) conducted a series of investigations focused on archeological data recovery prior to the establishment of several miles of new trails at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park (KEMO).

Brockington and Associates, Inc. conducted an intensive Phase I archaeological resources survey of the proposed US Interstate 85 (1-85) Managed Lanes Extension Projects in Gwinnett and Barrow counties, Georgia.

Between 27 and 31 July 2009, Brockington and Associates, Inc. conducted an intensive Phase I cultural resources survey of the proposed Ratcliffe residential development tract in Glynn County, Georgia.

On January 20, 2010 Brockington and Associates, Inc. conducted Phase I archaeological resources survey of proposed widening and improvements of Gwinnett Street in Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia.

In late April 2010, Edwards-Pitman Environmental, Inc. (EPEI) conducted a Phase I archaeological survey of the proposed infrastructure project for Coursey Lake Road at Chapel Hill Elementary School (GDOT Project CSSRS-0009-00(450), P.I. 0009450).

The 15 miles of trails proposed for constructed is Section II of an on-going effort to establish uninterrupted recreation trails from Cloudland Canyon State Park to the Lula Lake Land Trust property in Dade and Walker Counties, GA.

This project consisted of the emergency removal of flood deposited debris from the deck of the bridge over the Chattahoochee River on Capps Ferry Road (Figure 1). All work was completed October 2, 2009 and it took place within the existing 140-foot right-of-way.
