In September of 2001, Southern Research conducted data recovery at Site 9Me357 for the City of Columbus, Georgia. Located on the Midland 7.5 minute USGS topographic quadrangle, the site is situated on a ridge nose which terminates above the floodplain of Bull Creek (Figure I).

This report documents the findings of a Phase II archaeological assessment of two sites in Paulding County, Georgia. These sites, 9PA58 and 9PA59, are located in a proposed development tract for Colony Homes.

Projects STP-076-1 (21), (22), and (23) consist of the widening and reconstruction of State Route 104. Unit (21) begins immediately north of Kiokee Creek and continues southeast for approximately 3 miles to the intersection of SR 104 and CR 515/Cumberland Drive.

Route 28/Fury' s Ferry Road. The widening would begin just south of the Richmond County line and would extend to just north of Evans to Locks Road intersection. The proposed widening would be symmetrical but would shift throughout the project in order to minimize impacts.

Project STP-174-1(6) would widen the existing roadway to provide two westbound passing lanes, one eastbound passing lane, and four turn lanes on SR 232. The turn lanes would be located at the Southern Aggregates Quarry, Chamblin Road/CR 238, Columbia High School, and Clanton Road/CR 83.

The proposed project consists of the construction of two feet of pavement widening on the left and right sides of the existing roadway on State Route 223.

The proposed project consists of building renovations and parking lot expansions at Rest Areas 62 and 63 in Columbia County. Rest Area 62 is located immediately south and adjacent to I-20 between CR 570 and SR 47.

The proposed project would widen and extend on new location Old Petersburg Road in north Augusta. The proposed project would begin at the intersection of Old Petersburg Road and Baston Road then would extend northwesterly to the intersection of SR232/Old Evens Road.

This is the widening of S.R. 232 from approximately 600 feet west of Bel Air Road (S-2120) to a point approximately 2000 feet west of S.R. 104/S.R. 232 intersection. A corridor 2.2 miles long and 100 feet either side of the existing centerline was surveyed.

This project would widen S.R. 41/U.S. 1 to 4 lanes from the existing 3-lane section south of Spirit Creek to the existing 4-lane section at Tobacco Road. The project is approximately two miles long. A survey consistent with this corridor was conducted.
