Report Abstracts

A cultural resources reconnaissance- level survey of 1004 ha (2480 ac) in the Oconee National Forest, Greene and Oglethorpe Counties, Georgia, was conducted for the National Forest Service. Sixty-eight sites and 20 artifact occurrences were recorded.

During January of 1987. Robert S. Webb conducted a cultural resource Survey of the proposed water treatment site and water line corridor in Wildwood Park (formerly Keg Creek Park). The proposed project area is in Columbia County, Georgia, near Leah.

A cultural resources survey was conducted on a 40-acre tract of National Forest proposed for exchange. The parcel was an old Resettlement Administration tract, just off Georgia 16, 5 miles east of Monticello.

An intensive cultural resources survey was conducted of the proposed Tatum transmission line route and substation location in Troup County, just west of La Grange, Georgia. Five archeological sites and one artifact occurrence were recorded.

During March of 1987, Robert S. Webb conducted a cultural resource Survey of Oglethorpe Power Corporation's proposed South Acworth Substation site and Bells Ferry transmission line corridor. The proposed project is in Cherokee and Cobb Counties. Georgia., near Acworth.

This Resource Inventory II study project was carried out in advance of proposed construction of a public access facility at Idle Hour Point, on the Bartletts Ferry Reservoir, Harris County, Georgia.

Phase I cultural resource investigations of the proposed Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) site in Jesup, Georgia, consisted of: 1) background research into local and regional prehistory, history and ecology; 2) the development of expectations for cultural resources in the project area; 3) field

Phase II testing was conducted by the Jeffrey L. Brown Institute of Archaeology at two sites at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base in August of 1984.

In July and August 1986, Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc., conducted an intensive survey of 323 ha of heavily vegetated floodplain on both sides of the Chattahoochee River in Forsyth and Gwinnett Counties, Georgia.

On August 18, 1987, a Phase I archaeological survey was conducted by David Davis of this office at the Midville Boat Ramp in Burke County, Georgia.
