In January of 2011, New South Associates, Inc. conducted a Phase I Archaeological Survey of a parcel of land appended to the eastern portion of the existing Gateway Tract, a 125-acre parcel that was surveyed by New South in 2009.

This addendum report discusses the findings of a reevaluation survey undertaken to address project changes for GDOT Projects STP00-0155-01 (023), CSNHS-0007-00(251), and STP00- 0155-01(022), P.l. No. 322470, 0007251, and 322460, Houston and Twiggs Counties, Georgia.

In compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966, as amended, archaeologists with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) conducted a Phase I intensive survey of the proposed West Rome Bypass [GDOT Project HPPNH-0012-01(085), PI 621660] in Floyd County, Georgia.

The current project is an addendum to the Phase I Archaeological Survey of the Oconee Trail Corridor carried out in 2008 (Valk 2008). This project as conducted for Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc.

The Phase I Archaeological Survey was carried out for the propose improvements to the intersection of Boles Road and Bell Road. The project would replace the current tee intersection between Boles Road and Bell Road with a three-leg single lane roundabout.

The proposed project would consist of adding a right turn lane in the westbound direction on Atlanta Highway and in the northbound direction of Ed Hogan Road.

The proposed project consists of the emergency replacement of a existing culvert in southwestern Cherokee County, Georgia (Figure 1). The culvert was damaged during severe rainfall in September 2009. The culvert is located at the Kellogg Creek Road crossing over Owl Creek.

The proposed project would replace the bridge on County road (CR) 50/Caney Bay Road over Buffalo Creek in Brantley County. The existing bridge, constructed in 1950, has a sufficiency rating of 13.10 and has load restrictions for trucks; it cannot be repaired cost-effectively.
